Well, what do you know…
Democrats today insist that Obama ought to be able to fill the Supreme Court slot vacated by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. But it wasn’t that long ago that Democrats felt differently.
In 2007 liberal Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told a friendly audience,
“We should not confirm any Bush nominee to the Supreme Court except in extraordinary circumstances. They must prove by actions not words that they are in the mainstream rather than we have to prove that they are not.”
Schumer added, “I will do everything in my power to prevent one more ideological ally from joining (Justices John) Roberts and (Samuel) Alito.”

Democrats also passed a resolution against election-year Supreme Court recess appointments in 1060.
