NFL Commish Roger Goodell Booed During Award Ceremony for Deflategate and Players Disrespecting US Flag (Video)

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was booed during the Super Bowl trophy award presentation last night. At the same time Patriots Head Coach and star QB Tom Brady were laughing in the background.  Although they may not have been laughing about Goodell being booed it was still ironic.

Brady was also seen leaving the stage during Goodell’s presentation to Bob Kraft the owner of the Patriots. The pro-Patriots crowd that remained in the stadium for the ceremony however stopped booing and cheered when Kraft received the winner’s trophy.

This is the first time Brady and Goodell were together since the ‘deflategate’ scandal, the name given to the incident and actions taken by Goodell which penalized the Patriots and Brady for ‘supposedly’ using game balls during an NFL playoff game that were deflated.  The suggestion was that the Patriots and Brady were given an unfair advantage in the game which the Patriots won by a very large margin.  Brady eventually took the penalty to court but his case was thrown out after which Goodell penalized Brady and the Patriots. It was reported that –

Goodell dropped a sledgehammer on the Patriots when he suspended Brady for four games, fined the team one million dollars and took away their first-round draft pick in 2016 and fourth round selection this spring. His sanctions were the football equivalent of killing a fly with a hand grenade, and they were going to cripple the Pats. And yet all they did was make New England better.

Brady’s father was very vocal before the Super Bowl game about Goodell –

What the league did to him [Tom Brady] and what Roger Goodell constantly lied about is beyond reprehensible as far as I’m concerned,” Brady Sr. said of his son. “[Goodell] went on a witch hunt and went in way over his head and had to lie his way out in numerous ways and the reality is that Tommy never got suspended for deflating footballs. He got suspended because the court said that he could, Roger Goodell could do anything that he wanted to do to any player for any reason whatsoever. That’s what happened. The NFL admitted they had no evidence on him.”

As for the possibility of Goodell standing next to Brady after the Patriots won the Super Bowl, Brady Sr. doesn’t relish that, saying, “Somebody that has Roger Goodell’s ethics doesn’t belong on any stage that Tom Brady is on.”

Brady noticeably left the stage when Goodell was awarding the trophy to Kraft.

Fans also possibly booed Goodell for his lack of effort this year to penalize NFL players for not standing during the National Anthem.

Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers started this action and repeated it throughout the season while other players mimicked him around the nation.

Goodell did not step in and fine or suspend Kaepernick for these actions which to many were more serious than the actions that Goodell suspended Brady for. Although Goodell did nothing the fans booed Kaepernick for his disrespect for America.

Last night Brady, the Patriots and America won their revenge.
