Freedom Caucus Backs REVISED Repeal-and-Replace ObamaCare Plan (VIDEO)

Wednesday, the House Freedom Caucus announced publicly that it is willing to back the GOP’s healthcare plan now that an amendment has been put in place allowing states more rights.

The new amendment is granting states the option to opt out of “key” ObamaCare rules.

The Hill reports:

The group of roughly 30 hard-line conservatives held out for weeks, scuttling a planned House vote on the bill last month after it became clear there was’t enough Republican support to pass it.

The group said it sees the new amendment, brokered by Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and centrist Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.), as the best option short of fully repealing the 2010 law.

The Freedom Caucus issued a statement wherein they said:

While the revised version still does not fully repeal Obamacare, we are prepared to support it to keep our promise to the American people to lower healthcare costs . . . We look forward to working with our Senate colleagues to improve the bill. Our work will continue until we fully repeal Obamacare.

The amendment, known as the MacArthur-Meadows amendment, will allow states to apply for waivers from ObamaCare provisions that have, in the past, banned insurers from charging higher premiums as it pertains to sick people as well as mandating the minimum insurance coverage that is stated as a requirement, so long as the state chooses to offer alternative things such as a high-risk pool.
