Comey’s Leaker Comes Out of Hiding, Insists: ‘No Memos Given to Me Were Marked Classified’

Comey’s longtime friend and adviser, Daniel C. Richman came out of hiding to refute a new report that claims he was given classified information in the memos.

As TGP previously reported, Daniel C. Richman, a Columbia University professor from Brooklyn went into hiding after James Comey revealed during his Senate testimony that he gave his memos on his private conversations with President Trump to a friend to leak to the press.

Richman vanished from his Henry Street digs by midday, and family members, friends and neighbors wouldn’t answer doors or phone calls to shed any more light, The New York Post reported.

Daniel C. Richman told CNN on Monday, “No memo was given to me that was marked ‘classified’. No memo was passed on to the Times.”

Richman did share the contents of one memo, he said, but “the substance of the memo passed on to the Times was not marked classified and to my knowledge remains unclassified.”

As previously reported by The Hill, more than half of the memos fired FBI Director James Comey wrote during his private conversations with President Trump have been determined to contain classified information.

More than half of the memos former FBI chief James Comey wrote as personal recollections of his conversations with President Trump about the Russia investigation have been determined to contain classified information, according to interviews with officials familiar with the documents.

This revelation raises the possibility that Comey broke his own agency’s rules and ignored the same security protocol that he publicly criticized Hillary Clinton for in the waning days of the 2016 presidential election.

Comey insisted in his testimony he believed his personal memos were unclassified, though he hinted one or two documents he created might have been contained classified information.
