Two police officers were shot in downtown St. Louis on Friday afternoon.
Multiple police cars converged on the scene of the shooting.

The shooting took place on 14th and Cass shortly before 2 PM Central.
Local reporter Chris Hayes says there may have been an assault rifle used in the shooting.
UPDATE—- Two police officers were shot during a traffic stop.
The suspect fled the scene and police found AK-47 rounds.
The police were shot in the legs.
Suspect is on the lose — Police officers are kicking in doors in the area.
The suspect is known and at large.

Local FOX 2 said one officer was shot in leg and the other officer was shot in an arm and leg.
Police also swarmed Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the Central West End where the injured police were taken.
