BREAKING: Tom Petty Found Unconscious in Full Cardiac Arrest – Life Support Pulled **Update** Petty Dead at 66

Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital in full cardiac arrest Sunday night. 

TMZ is just now reporting that a decision was made to pull his life support.

Update: As of 1:35 PM PST, the singer is still alive; LAPD apologizes for reporting that he had already passed away.

Second Update: Tom Petty passed away at 8:40 PM PST according to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, on behalf of the family.

TMZ reported:

Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.

We’re told after Petty got to the hospital he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull life support. 

66-year-old Petty just wrapped up a tour at the Hollywood Bowl last Monday evening.

TMZ reached out to Petty’s camp and while they are upset, no comment has been given.

CBS News confirmed Tom Petty has died.

Tom Petty, the rocker best known as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is dead at 66, CBS News has confirmed.

SECOND UPDATE: Petty is still clinging onto life. LAPD apologizes for earlier report that he passed away. Petty is not expected to make it through the day.
