Thirteen suspects were arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, after authorities allegedly caught them unloading approximately $250,000 worth of stolen chicken from an 18-wheeler.
The Memphis Safe Task Force rolled up to the Economy Inn on September 15, looking for one wanted man. They found a parking-lot bazaar. Thirteen people were pulling pallets of stolen chicken off an 18-wheeler behind the motel.
According to the news release from the Memphis Police Department:
“On September 15, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers with the Memphis Police Department’s Fugitive Unit went to the Economy Inn, located at 3896 Lamar Avenue, after receiving information that 33-year-old Javunte Johnson, who was wanted for Aggravated Robbery, was at the location. Officers located and took Johnson into custody in the rear of the business.”
When the badges appeared, the whole crew ran. Every one of them was caught.
Javunte Johnson, 33, was arrested on charges including aggravated robbery, theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
The man behind the wheel of the rig, Robert Wilson, 56, told investigators a story that belongs in a bad crime novel. Wilson said he was trading the commercial shipment to pay off a drug debt owed to one of the men already on the scene.
He tried to flee in the 18-wheeler. He was charged with theft of property in the same $60,000–$250,000 range and evading arrest in a vehicle.
Bond: $100,000. Authorities later contacted his employer and the company that hired the shipper to confirm the cargo had been stolen.
Police said three handguns were recovered. Quantrivious Shavers, 25, and Jessie Moore, 37, were each charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
Shavers also faces a charge of possessing fentanyl with the intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell, according to the police information reported by WOWT. Samuel Jackson, 38, faces a similar controlled-substance charge involving cocaine.
Memphis police identified the following additional allegations:

John Shipp, 47; Rico Jackson, 36; Devean Hoyle, 45; Trashawn Featherson, 35; Robert Dishmon, 40; and Marcellous McKinney, 38: theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000. McKinney also faces an evading-arrest charge involving an automobile.

Alexis Pike, 21: evading arrest on foot and two theft charges involving property valued at less than $1,000.
Authorities said the investigation involved approximately $110,000 in stolen merchandise and deadly drugs, including fentanyl and cocaine. while the pallets of chicken found at the scene were valued at approximately $250,000.
