Kentucky State Trooper Fatally Shot During Traffic Stop – Armed and Dangerous Suspect Taken Into Custody Following Statewide Manhunt

On Monday, Kentucky State Trooper Hayden Phillips was fatally shot by a man during a traffic stop.

The suspect was taken into custody following a statewide manhunt.

Phillips was patrolling Interstate 65 in Warren County near Bowling Green when he was killed in the line of duty.

The unidentified suspect was described as a black male with dreadlocks.

The suspect initially fled in a blue Honda Civic with plates.

Governor Andy Beshear asked the public to join him in praying for Trooper Hayden Phillips’s family.

“Hayden was a hero who dedicated himself to protecting our commonwealth,” Governor Beshear said.

“Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while patrolling I-65 in Warren County. He was assigned to Post 3 Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103,” Kentucky State Police said in a statement.

Kentucky Republican James Comer also asked the public to pray for Phillips’ family.

“Please join me in praying for the family, loved ones, and fellow officers of Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips, who was tragically killed in the line of duty today,” Comer said.
