ROSE UNPLUGGED: Tortured, Isolated, Forgotten: Unbreakable Vietnam POWs Share Experiences (VIDEO)

Rear Admiral Robert Shumaker and Commander Everett Alvarez Jr. spent a combined sixteen-plus years as prisoners of war in North Vietnam.

They were beaten, isolated, and told their country had forgotten them.

On this episode of Rose Unplugged, they sit down to share what really happened behind those prison walls: the tap code they invented to survive solitary confinement, the house Shumaker designed brick by brick in his mind and later built with his own hands, and the faith that carried them through years their captors meant to break them.

This is a first-hand account of captivity, brotherhood, and the cost of freedom — straight from two men who paid it.
