President Trump weighed in on the Lindsay Clancy murder case again on Sunday, responding to Clancy’s attorney asking him to pardon the killer mom.
Clancy murdered her three children and admitted to the crime, but the defense argues she is not guilty by reason of insanity.
A mistrial was declared earlier this month after one male juror held the line.
Trump previously weighed in on the case, telling reporters in the Oval Office, “she did a horrible, horrible thing,” and “there’ll be a price.”
It’s going to be a mental institution or jail or something, but I guess they’re going to go through another trial,” Trump said.
Asked about Clancy’s attorney’s requests and whether he is considering a pardon for Clancy in the state case, Trump said he “heard that” and noted that it is not a federal case. “That’s a very sad situation,” Trump said.
“There is no winner there. There’s no, there’s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead, so I don’t know. But it’s actually a state situation, you know, not a federal.”
The reporter then asked Trump if he would call the prosecutor’s office. “I appreciate that he feels that way, and he’s a good attorney. I’ve heard from other people he’s a very good attorney. I hope they can work it out. That’s something they have to work out. It’s a very sad— there is no win there,” Trump said.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, made the plea for Trump to pardon his client during an interview on “Good Morning America.”
“I’d like to say that perhaps Donald Trump, who felt compelled to speak out on this case. Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady, the type of person she is, what she has been through, and consider a pardon,” Reddington said Tuesday.
